This document demonstrates how Prentice Hall's Miller & Levine Biology: Core Edition 2010
meets the objectives of the Ohio Science Education Standards Draft Model Curriculum for Biology.
Correlation page references are to the Student and Teacher's Editions and are cited at the page level.
References also include a number of ancillaries including the laboratory manual. As many page
citations to the expectations were lengthy, in an effort to make this document most meaningful and
workable, no more than fifteen references are provided for all standards.

This program offers an environmentally friendly way to teach biology with a concise textbook that uses
the first five standards-based units of the Biology textbook combined with robust digital support.

Biology: Core Edition, which covers the general high school biology curriculum, is supported by
premium digital content on Biology.com that includes author updates, online virtual labs, and the
ability for students to create their own video clips. These ground-breaking online resources allow full
flexibility of scope and sequence to meet your standards.

Biology.com, the latest in digital instruction technology, provides a pedagogically relevant interface
for your biology classroom.

Biology: Syllabus and Model Curriculum

Course Description:
Biology is a high school level course which satisfies Ohio Core science graduation requirements as
required by section 3313.603 of the Ohio Revised Code that requires a three-unit course with inquiry-
based laboratory experience that engages students in asking valid scientific questions and gathering
   and analyzing information.
This course investigates the composition, diversity, complexity and interconnectedness of life on Earth.
Fundamental concepts of heredity and evolution provide a framework through inquiry-based instruction
to explore the living world, the physical environment and the interactions within and between them.
Students engage in investigations to understand and explain the behavior of living things in a variety of
scenarios that incorporate scientific reasoning, analysis, communication skills and real-world
   applications.

Science Inquiry and Application - During the years of grades 9 through 12 all students must use the
following scientific processes to construct their knowledge and understanding in all science content areas:

   Identify questions and concepts that guide SE/TE: 3, 6-9, 10-11, 16, 68, 72, 90, 180, 358,
